Elementalists go pretty well with Mesemrs, becuase of the combination of fast casting with lots of elementalist spells that deal a lot of damage. THat would be my suggestion.

Monk and Ranger are the best.
Monk give you alot of support to your team. It allow you to play healer for short burst of time. This is great. You can also act a rezzer because of fast cast.
Ranger allow you to gain more disturbtion skills. Traps, interruption, snare.. you name it. Another thing is tha Rangers have some of the best defensive skills. Mesmer are often targetted because they are deadly against Monks. Having defensive ability is usefull.

ok, thanks for the advice, I'll think about it for a while (more suggestions are welcome:P) but I don't think I'll take a elementalist since another character of me is already elementalist/mesmer.

I think Necro or Warrior would be more fun.
Rangers and Mesmers are nearly identical in terms of skills. You might as well just pick Necro or Monk for rend enchanments or some Rez skills if you're going Me/R. There is almost nothing to gain from that marriage.
Warrior is interesting because you could probably sneak up to the front lines and cause some interesting effects.
My big vote though is for Necro or Monk.

I'm finding Ranger to be a very helpful second class for my Mesmer. Points in Marksmanship and a decent bow mean you don't have to worry too much about dealing damage with spells, so you can concentrate on interrupts and lockdowns.
Many knowledgeable people have advised against Elementalist as a secondary class for Mesmer; apparently it is essentially inferior to an El/Me in every important way.

yes I know they did, that's why my first character was a ele/me but I play that one kinda like a elementalist and I want to keep it that way and I want something new so I was thinking about what to use as second, still havent decided yet:P.
what do you use as attributes for your mesmer ranger then, markmanship and domination/illusion I guess for the lockdown and interrupts?

I think elementalist is probably one of the best secondary classes for a mesmer, since it is the class that will most benefit from the mesmer's fast casting. For the extra kick, my mesmer uses air damage spells, which are excellent in delivering a huge amount of pain to one target over a short period of time. Couple that with fast casting, and you can pack a ton of damage into a very short timeframe.

The most popular choices I know are:
- Me/N, I play this 90% of my time. Lot of choices for playstyle with this.
- Me/R, I've heard glowing reports about this one. Not sure of the benefits for it though.
- Me/E, Everyone likes fast casting elemental spells. Although energy turns into somewhat of a problem...
Me/W used to be quite popular, but now that it takes so darn long to get Illusionary Weaponry these aren't used so much anymore.

Personally with my Me/N, the only necro attribute I use is Curses (Rend Enchantments, Malaise, Defile Flesh, Shadow of Fear).
On the mesmer side I use Domination and Inspiration for a traditional anti-caster build. When going to PvE, I swap Domination for Illusion.

Domination/Inspiration and Marksmanship. I chose Inspiration for the energy drain... Illusion is great against melee attackers but I'm more focused on assassinating enemy monks. There's always warriors and necromancers around that are much more effective at taking out melee characters than my mesmer will ever be
What I meant with the Me/El vs El/Me thing was that you could, if you wanted, roll an El/Me and play it mostly like a Mesmer. The loss of power from Fast Casting would be made up by the advantage of Energy Storage, and you would have the opportunity to use your Elementalist abilities as well, abilities which a Me/El simply can't afford the energy to cast.
I just can't see Fast Casting being very useful unless a great deal of points are spent in it. Sixteen points in Fast Casting will reduce a three-second spell to just under 1.5 seconds... that helps massively when someone is trying to interrupt you, but those 16 points could increase the power of your character massively when placed in some other attribute. It's all a trade-off, I guess.
The classes I can see Fast Casting being most useful for are the Necromancer (lots of 2+ second casts) and monks (res in half the time, whee!).

yes well I've tried playing my ele/me as a mesmer, but I just want to use another combination for it, ele/me is fun, but I've seen enough elementalist action right now (I have a ele/me and a mo/ele). so thats why I am thinking of other classes.

Its all about Mes/Warr. With a focus on swordsmanship and Domination attributes, you can find yourself to be quit deadly against non-elementalist foes. Start off wth Physical Resistance then Empathy followed by Conjure Phantasm then Energy burn. By that time Sever Artery will be active and you can start ripping foes apart while using Gash. If empathy is still in effect, you can finish them with Shatter Delusions. Rogue's armor would be ideal cosidering its +10 vs. physical attacks. thats just one of my views to a mesmers secondary class.

As an ex Me/N I would recommend Me/Mo or Me/R. I think there is too much overlap with Me/N and you end up not doing much. I would take something that will help you do damage or heal, you don't need help doing curses, you already do that very well.
And I hear that these 2 mesmer skill work good with some ranger skills. But I haven't played ranger so I can't speak from experience.
Epidemic - Spell
All negative "Conditions" target foe suffers from are spread from target foe to any nearby foes.
Fragility - Hex Spell
For 8-18 seconds, target foe takes 5-28 damage each time that foe suffers or recovers from a new "Condition"

i have a me/e but i am almost all mesmer with only 1-2 skills from ele. fast casting is nice but i would rather have the 60+ mana pool that my friend has then cast a 2 seconds faster with meteor. Me/R would be cool but IMO i dont like rangers..

Me too its my first an only toon. I wouldnt recommend it though as I like being rare.
Haha just kidding. It seems to be a very effective build (mostly PvE ive done being a newb), the combo of stifles and life drain taps is enemy caster nightmare stuff, although you are very vulnerable to melee, there is always a trade off right )

I play Me/El. Use the Mesmers Domination and Inspiration to remove hexes and close down casters. The Elementalists Fire-spells are good to deal some damage.
